Project Details
- Planned Improvement: Three-lane widening
- Length of Project: 2.4 miles
- Estimated Cost: $25.0 million
Justification
- Safety: Poor sight distance at the intersection of SC Highway 274 and Pole Branch Road
- Traffic Volume: 6,200 vehicles per day; expected to increase to 9,200 vehicles per day by 2022
Purpose
- To provide additional roadway capacity and improve traffic operations
Planned Improvements
- Upgrade SC Highway 274 to a five-lane section (0.5 miles) including a center turn lane, paved shoulders and ditches from just south of Mill Creek to SC Highway 279 (Pole Branch Road)
- Realign Pole Branch Road at the intersection with SC Highway 274
- Upgrade SC Highway 279 (Pole Branch Road) to a three-lane section including a center turn lane, paved shoulders and ditches from SC Highway 274 to the NC state line
